Vice President, Membership, PPALM


MAJ Gatus enlisted in the Army in 1998 and served as a Nutrition Care Specialist (68M). He then was accepted into the Green to Gold program where he received his bachelor’s degree and Regular Army commission from Northwestern State University in 2002. He was assessed into the Quartermaster Corps and branch detailed to the Infantry. In 2013, MAJ Gatus was awarded his Master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.

MAJ Gatus is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Mechanized Leaders Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, Airborne School, Aerial Delivery Materiel Officer Course, Petroleum and Water Officer Course, Command and General Staff Officer’s Course at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and recently, the Joint Professional Military Education Level II at Norfolk Naval Base, VA.

His previous assignments include Assistant Rear Detachment Commander, Assistant Operations Officer, and Battalion S1 with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, and Maintenance Platoon Leader for Echo Forward Support Company, 204th Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Division. During his tour at Fort Hood, MAJ Gatus deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

After completing CLC3, MAJ Gatus was assigned as the Battalion S4 for the 125th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Armored Division which later re-designated to the 299th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. While at Fort Riley, MAJ Gatus deployed in support of OIF 09-10 and served as the Battalion S4, Battle Captain, and Company Commander. 

Upon completion of command, MAJ Gatus was then assigned to the Combined Arms Support Command as a Quartermaster Training Developer for the Professional Military Education Division and the Quartermaster Training Directorate.

After graduating from CGSOC in 2014, MAJ Gatus was assigned to the Republic of Germany, and served as the Brigade S4 with 16th Sustainment Brigade, Senior Operations Officer with 21st Theater Sustainment Command, and Support Operations Officer with the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Europe & Africa. While in Europe, MAJ Gatus deployed in Latvia in support of Atlantic Resolve and the maturation of the NATO Force Integration Units to deter threats in the region. In February 2019, MAJ Gatus was then reassigned to Defense Logistics Agency Energy Headquarters at Fort Belvoir, VA, as a Joint Petroleum Staff Officer. 

MAJ Gatus’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (w/ 2 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (w/ 3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (w/ 4 Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (w/ numeral 5), the Airborne Badge, and the Parachute Rigger Badge. 

MAJ Gatus is married to the former Ethel Ocampo of Pasay City, Philippines. They have three children, Bianca, 18, Kristen, 11, and Liam, 5 years old respectively.
